9 Tips for New Year’s Resolutions for 2023

We are moving fast towards the new year 2023. Like every year we are all set to take our new year’s resolutions. However, we also know that we are more enthusiastic at the start of the year, and at the end of the first quarter, we totally forget about our resolutions or may not be able to maintain them (for many it may last only for a month or a week). Very few people managed to keep those new year’s resolutions till the year ends.

Have you ever wondered why is it that some leave their resolution halfway? or why are some not able to accomplish it? Why did very few people manage to stick to their new year’s resolution? Well, there are many things that impact our new year’s resolution. In this post, I will tell you the key points or tips that help your new year’s resolutions last till the year ends.

Save yourself from FOMO (fear of missing out)

Don’t consider taking a resolution because everyone else around you is taking new year resolutions, or it’s a new year so you have to take a new year resolution.

Consider WHAT and WHY for the resolutions

Decide for yourself exactly WHAT you want to achieve in that new year. Make sure you have passion for the things you want to achieve. Also, find out WHY you want it. Your WHY will filter out all resolutions that you might take because of FOMO, and also give you strengths throughout the year when you have a tough time working on your resolutions.

Make REALISTIC resolutions

Sometimes we wish for unrealistic things (say for example you want to work abroad and you don’t have time to prepare for the examinations due to responsibility in the house and at the office) and make it our new year’s resolution. Such resolutions have a 99% probability to fail. Set realistic goals for yourself. Don’t make lofty resolutions that are impossible to keep. Instead, set achievable goals that you can work towards over the course of the year.

Make an appropriate PLAN on paper for your resolution

Now, when you have decided exactly WHAT you want then write it down on paper. Break down your resolutions into smaller, more manageable tasks that you can take each month or each week to help you reach your goal. This will help you stay focused and motivated. Time-bound your every task.

Make it a PRIORITY and take action

Resolve to make your resolutions a priority. Put them on your calendar and create a plan of action to help you stay on track. Start doing work on your goal. Decide a specific time to work on your resolution every day, alternate day, or once a week (whatever is feasible as per your goal). On that decided time work start working right away.

Create a SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT and surround yourself with LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE

Set yourself up for success by creating an environment that supports you and your goal. Find an accountability partner who can help keep you motivated and on track. You can have a monthly meeting online/offline to discuss your progress and problems on goal.

STAY FLEXIBLE: Don’t be too hard on yourself, If you don’t stick to your resolutions 100%.
